Founded in 1999, Q-Cells SE began producing silicon solar cells in HY1 2001 with just 19 employees. By now it has a workforce exceeding 2,000. To strengthen our position on the world market, alongside our headquarters in Bitterfeld-Wolfen we are now putting the finishing touches to our new production facility in Malaysia. Apart from our core business, we develop and produce thin-film solar modules using different technologies. And we are also active in the project business through our project arm Q-Cells International, expanding existing markets and tapping future ones. Our aim is to leverage profitable growth to develop new market segments in existing and future markets and to achieve grid parity with conventional energy as soon as possible.

Our strategy is based on cutting-edge products and technologies combined with the highest standards of quality. We are hence strengthening our position as one of the technological pioneers in photovoltaics. By continuously cutting the costs of solar energy, we are determined to make it a competitive source of energy and achieve grid parity with conventional types of energy as quickly as possible.

Quality and technological progress call for excellent management. Q-Cells has garnered several awards for its business policies. And its integrated quality and environmental management system are ISO 9001 and 14001 certified.

In 2008, apart from our major investment project in Malaysia, Line VI was started up in Thalheim. In addition to these projects in our core business, we are considerably stepping up thin-film production at Solibro and will start up a second production line. We are continuing to drive forward our project business in existing and new markets with Q-Cells International, and are constantly signing up new customers for Q-Cells Clean Sourcing.
